Platte Township Population: 2000(342) 1990(253) Change(89)
Platte Township is located in northwestern Benzie County, on the border of Leelanau County. Historically, it was named after F.B. Van Platten, the first supervisor of the town by the same name, which existed there until 1905. Geographically, this hilly area with its rustic beauty remains rural, dotted with farms and forest. The old schoolhouse next to the township hall on the corner of Fowler and Valley Roads stands well-preserved and is truly a "museum piece" of the areas days-gone |
